Bird on the Bough

One Sunday, beneath a sombre sky,
No golden sun was shining high;
The heavens murmured, deep and low,
And stirred the bird where wild winds blow.

The rain came softly, then poured fast,
And wrapped me in its silver cast;
The lightning traced my shadowed shape,
While thunder rolled across the landscape.

The trees and I stood trembling there,
As broken branches filled the air;
Yet through the storm, serene somehow,
A little bird remained on the bough.

It held its place through wind and rain,
Unmoved by thunder’s wild refrain;
And in its stillness, I could see—
A quiet strength awakening me.
