Never From Now
Never have I fallen so low, so far, so still,
Where hope lay pale beneath grief’s heavy will.
Never has my gentle light so softly fled,
Like fading stars where night and sorrow wed.
Never did a voice so pierce my trembling soul,
A whispered doom no comfort could console.
I wept till darkness learned my silent cry,
Till even prayer grew weary passing by.
Forever shall this choice, a shadowed chain,
Walk with my years in sorrow’s slow domain,
Where broken spirits wander, hushed and alone,
Till remorse leads every lost heart home.
